The Sinkland Farms Nature Experience
The Sinkland Farms Nature Trail is here for nature lovers and explorers of all ages. Easily accessible and open to the public, the trail is designed to showcase our region's native flora and fauna, while educating visitors on the importance of conserving natural resources.
The farm is home to many diverse species with specialized needs for food, habitat, and shelter. Everything we do at the Nature Trail is intended to improve the habitat and encourage a healthy, active environment for all who live nearby and visit the farm. We also want to offer a place for young explorers to learn more about nature and agriculture in a friendly, open setting!
We are converting one of our former cattle pastures into a more diverse environment by planting trees, flowers, shrubs, and grasses.
* We have carefully chosen each plant species for its benefits to the ecosystem, thereby increasing the food, shelter, and cover (aka habitat) that is so important for birds, butterflies, bees, mammals, and all the other critters that we cherish and need.
* Pollinators are very important to Sinkland Farms, they help ensure that we have successful pumpkin and corn crops. By creating better habitat for the birds and bees, we help them help us.
We invite you to explore the Sinkland Farms Nature Trail during daylight hours only. Please be respectful of our farm and all the creatures who live here so that we may preserve our environment for future generations.
We offer guided tours of the trail filled with activities for enrichment and exploration, specifically oriented toward the Virginia SOL's. Contact us to find out more about our guided tours and field trips.
Support agriculture, conservation, and the environment! Donations are welcome to extend our efforts. You will find a donation box near the pond.
